Oscar Tolmas Wish Fund Established to Fund Wishes for Louisiana Children
The Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust will make an initial donation of $20,000 to create the Oscar J. Tolmas Wish Fund. This fund will split costs incurred by A Child’s Wish of Louisiana in granting future wishes. This fund will be monitored by the Trust from year-to-year to determine any additional amounts the Trust wants to add to the fund.
Oscar J. Tolmas was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a Veteran of WWII, attorney and real estate developer, but horse racing was his passion. In his last will and testament, he formed the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust to support charitable organizations with their missions of helping others.
“This most generous gift of underwriting our Oscar J. Tolmas Wish Fund will provide our children wishes for many years into the future,” said ACW president Lenny Alsfeld.
A Child’s Wish of Louisiana is a non-profit organization fulfilling the dreams of critically-ill children. ACW is operated by volunteers and relies exclusively on the generosity of private donations and funding to grant wishes.
“As a 33 year old Louisiana non-profit, A Child’s Wish can now expand its mission to provide wishes to children with a limited life prognosis throughout the state,” Alsfeld added. “What a wonderful legacy to leave in Mr. Tolmas’ name!”

Lemonade Stand Entrepreneurs Honored
Recently, two local lemonade stand entrepreneurs were honored by A Child’s Wish. ACW President Lenny Alsfeld presented a certificate of appreciation to Hannah Kraus and Emma Walsdorf, which honored their contributions and dedication.
This past year, these enterprising young ladies raised $200 with their “Lemonade Day” sales. This is their second year in a row raising money for A Child’s Wish.
Both generous young entrepreneurs are sixth graders at the St Rita School in Harahan. We’re proud of you girls, keep up the good work!

Emma Deliciously Supports A Child’s Wish
Summer is here, so children manning homemade lemonade stands are no doubt all over the neighborhoods of communities across the South.
However, not every one of these junior curbside entrepreneurs consistently helps to make other children’s dreams come true!
Metairie resident Emma Kraus is operating her sidewalk non-profit supporting A Child’s Wish for the second summer in a row this year.
Congratulations Emma, and thank you for all your hard work!
Without generous souls like Emma, A Child’s Wish would not be able to bring joy and fulfillment to ill children in our area.
If you’re in the Metairie area this week, be sure to check out her stylish stand, and deliciously support her hard work and A Child’s Wish!

D’Niah’s lemonade stand supports A Child’s Wish
Here’s a heart warming story!
Here in metro New Orleans, summer has arrived!
All over the city, entrepreneurial kids are opening lemonade stands to make a few extra bucks.
But one little girl is putting her “go getter” attitude to a higher use by raising money for A Child’s Wish of Louisiana.
We want to thank D’Niah and all the other people who give their valuable time and talent to help make wishes possible for Louisiana’s critically ill children.
Oh and if you happen to see D’Niah’s lemonade stand on your way home, stop by and have a glass of lemonade, and tell her we sent you 🙂

Auction winners visit Hollywood A-Listers
Everyone enjoyed a great time at our NFL Player’s Association Celebrity Waiters Event in January, but a few of our lucky auction winners are having even a better time enjoying the prizes they bid on and won!
One of the packages won at the event included a full day on the set of “Daddy’s Home” – a movie being filmed in New Orleans with 2 of the top “A List” Hollywood stars – Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.
Our lucky winners spent an entire day on the set of the movie, and both Wahlberg & Ferrell were kind enough to stop and chat for a few minutes and pose for a few pictures.
A Child’s Wish would like to thank both actors for their time and generosity as well as Mac Alsfeld and his production team which helped make the special day possible. And as always, all proceeds from the event go to benefit Louisiana children with critical illness.
